Grand Experiences

It winds through the province of Ontario for 420 Kilometers.  Beginning near Wareham Ontario, the Grand River passes through countless towns and cities, including our own Paris Ontario.

Long before Paris Ontario came into existence, the Grand River was home to Indigenous people for over 10,000 years!  So often we set out to travel the world in search of historical sites that are hundreds, even a few thousand years old.  To get to an airport to jet set off to one of these far-flung destinations most people in Paris Ontario travel across a bridge that spans the Grand River.  A river with thousands of years of history that most people are not even aware of.

This is one of my favourite things about Grand Experiences.  Not only are they the original Grand River tour company in Paris Ontario.  The owner, Jamie is a wealth of knowledge.  During our 3-hour epic trip down the Grand River, I learned more than I ever could have imagined about the Grand River, the history of Paris Ontario and of the people that lived here for thousands of years before.

With over 10,000 people visiting Paris Ontario every season to explore the river it is a wonder why more local people do not get out and experience this grand wonder in our own backyard.  I am so glad I spent the day with Jamie, I now have a wonderful new insight into why I love where I live.
